Patient History

  • Patient with Rendu-Osler-Weber Syndrome (a genetic disorder that leads to vascular malformations).
  • Epistaxis for the last 10 years.
  • Many hospitalisations in different hospitals all over Serbia.
  • Treatments by electro-coagulation, both facial artery ligations.

Procedure

  • Embolisation through microcatheter using 1ml Bead Block™.

Post-Procedure

  • Hypervascular area irrigated by the sphenopalatin artery using a microcatheter after embolisation.
  • Epistaxis stopped.

  • The patient was bleeding again two months after the first embolisation.
  • A second embolisation procedure using 2ml Bead Block™ and three Gelfoam plugs.
  • Occlusion of the branches of the maxilliary artery.
