Why does DC Bead shrink and Hepasphere expand?
This is due to the differing physical properties of the products. Hepasphere expands not because of the drug but because it is hydrated. This is an inherent property of Hepasphere that is not fully understood. DC Bead shrinks marginally because water is displaced by the drug on loading, giving a slightly reduced volume.
